What’s the name of the song?
dave weckl is the sh*t! i love watching his solos on video. i saw his clinic in dallas in dec 2003. its even more badass when you see him live.
he is maybe the greatest living drummer, in technique, in creativity, in fantasy…. but really, I don’t success to esteem him cause his bad bearing when he plays, he transmit me “…look how I am cool! you’ll never success to do that”…. But really, I don’t see in the world another drummer in so high level. I prefer a drummer less good in technicque, in fantasy, but transmit me enjoyment to play music.
This guy plays like Tony williams kinda but technically better.Just leaves all of em in dust ..Steve gadd dennis chambers jeff porcaro ..You never will be timeless like this guy will. This guy has evolved drumming …
dave weckl is the best alive drummer!he and hes style is so inovative and unique..that’s why i like him…

I don’t think he plays like TW at all. I see a lot of Gadd in him but most of all he sounds like Dave Weckl and he leans toward Superfluity.
I think he’s on a mission for perfection and while his skills can be hugely admired, he isn’t a particularly musical drummer and doesnt possess the sort of timelessness of Tony Williams for example.
I can say this explicitly after seeing Weckl live.
i think he is one of the most musical drummers there is… especially of the ” drummers drummers” .
Best alive? No – but I would have a hard time coming up with more than a few people I think are contenders
I actually like Benny Grebb better for some reasons, and Virgil Donati is one of the sickest mofos alive. Simply put, I place Dave in a group of maybe a dozen “all around godly” drummers.
I hate comparing musicians though
whateverman has it right – there are a lot of good guys and gals out there and they are all the best at their own thing. Its great that we can see/hear so much so easily.
Man I loves me some Dave Weckl!!! But all ya all don,t forget about my main man Vinnie Coliuta who was kickin some bad grooves with baddest of the bad FRANK ZAPPA back in the day!!
I thought Terry Bozzio was Zappa’s drummer? Or were they both?

Yeah man always glad to pass on some info,check out Joes Garage and Tinsel Town Rebellion for some SUPER SICK Vinnie drumming!! The drumming on the verse section of Keep It Greasy and all of Joes Garage for that matter is THE BOMB,especially considering it was back in the 70′s!! Tinsel Town Rebellion is TOTALLY KILLER live stuff and ALSO ROCKS!!! PEACE
