A Brief Insight Into Oriental Writing Symbolism

December 12th, 2011

Japanese Kanji symbols are easily recognized because of their artistic look. These ideographical characters are constructed out of carefully selected marks that symbolize a whole concept or object. It is a highly expressive script that seems to have an strong aesthetic appeal.

Throughout the years, Kanji symbols have been the best option for all tattoo maniacs. Designing of Kanji symbols can be widely found in jewels like bangles, chains and earrings. Even the lanterns and wall hangings are decorated with Kanji symbols nowadays.

You can make use of Kanji symbols in order to create and express any idea that you would like. The construction of the script is however entirely different to that of English and hence one needs to understand how a specific word would come out in the kanji script.

Yes, it is a fact that too much people have been trapped tattooing with the inappropriate symbols, relying upon their outer meaning. later, they realized that those symbols didn’t express what they wished, moreover they had a humiliating meaning which they never liked.

For people who are unacquainted with the Japanese language it is next to impossible to comprehend what a kanji symbol stands for. One can simply end up with something that turns the head of the Japanese people but for all the wrong reasons. Tattoo searchers often run into this problem when they rely on a non native speaker with their kanji symbols. A tattoo with a wrong meaning then serves the purpose that it was originally used for which was as a sentence for criminals.

The history of kanji symbols is extremely rich and also the symbolism that it carries. Not all Kanji experts today are tattoo artists. Rather they take to the script as a way of fine art as they play with the script to compose a marvellous piece of art.

The real grandeur of the Kanji symbols lies in the unchanged acceptance and attraction they have maintained althrough their history. It is so old that the adoption of Chinese characters into Japanese language occurred before 15 centuries. Until today, this great art has been attracting masses of people all over the world.

The beauty of life is superbly characterized in the Kanji symbols and they have got a compassionate attractiveness among the public. In fact Kanji symbols are the immortal expressions of the endless human imagination.

It has been remarked that the germs of the kanji symbols that we see today are embedded in human experience. For example the kanji symbol for peace portrays an abstracted line drawing of a woman under a roof representing shelter. Among the most famous Kanji symbols is the one which reads “FUKU”. This means fortune and comfortability. “Gaku” is another popular symbol which signifies happiness.

Traditional art from Japan is of great importance to the cultural heritage of Japanese poeple. In order to obtain further reading material on Kanji symbols from Japan follow the links herein.

How To Build Patterns For Lead Guitar Improvisations

May 31st, 2011

Few strategies are there to build various patterns:

1. Start on the E string on any note of the scale. Keep this fret in your mind . Move up that string playing notes from the scale until the next note would be more than 4 frets from home position (count the home position as fret 1), and place that next note on a higher string. Continue it until you run out of strings.

With this approach you can find regular scale boxes – boxes are great because they help you to hold your hand in the same position throughout the scale.

2. Start on the E string on any note of the scale. For each string, add notes until you have played precisely 3 notes on that string and after that change strings.

You can find 3 notes per string scales with the help of this approach – this is great because they have an even number of notes on each string which actually helps with speed runs.

You can get 2 note per string scales by altering the number from 3 to 2 or 4, or even 4 notes per string scales (possible, but really difficult to play, a favorite of Alan Holdsworth I believe). 2 notes per string are especially suitable for pentatonic.

3. Whole neck approach – in this approach we play entire number of scales by moving up 1 string and handle every string in isolation. Understand that there will be great overlap between strings, and figure out all the practicable means of playing an individual note or run on all strings (very challenging to do in practice but this is how actually top notch performers find out things)

That’s all what the patterns actually are – and as far as a point of terminology is concerned, I would call boxes a special case of patterns that are constructed by applying rule 1, patterns is a more general term that refers to all possible ways to map a scale to the guitar neck.

Advanced Guitar Theory- The Relative Minors

May 21st, 2011

This short article presents a woolly description as well as a more technical one to make you familiar with Relative Minors.

A relative minor is a musical scale that is “related” to a major scale. As they work together harmonically, thus they can be regarded as being in the same family. Relative minors provide a remarkable mode to move from a major to a minor key without too much of a jump or use of multiplex chord sequences and so they are considered as a well-set tool in songwriting.

Here is a more technical description:

The relative minor of a certain major scale is a scale that starts 6 intervals up and after that shares all of the same notes. Firstly, what is an interval? It is not easy to answer it exactly but you can say that an interval is a note in a scale. You can understand all this with the help of an example. Let’s look at the scale of C ??” it is liked by most of the people because it has no sharps or flats. It comprises of followingnotes

C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C

We find that A is the relative minor of C by moving up 6 notes, (C-D-E-F-G-A). Therefore the possible notes we will use for A minor are A-B-C-D-E-F-G-A.

Although we start on the note of A, all of the notes also exist in the C major scale.

Taking it a step further, looking at the scale in terms of half and whole notes, as in the Major Scale 101 lesson, for a relative minor we would apply the pattern:

W H W W H W W, or

2 1 2 2 1 2 2

You can practice this formula to figure out the relative minor scale for any major scale by starting at the 6th note and applying it.

Now, to conclude, a short note of a couple of fascinating facts about Relative Minors is given. Firstly, three various minor scales are there in western music ??” with a slight divergence in their formula. The scale above is in reality a “Natural Minor” or “Pure Minor” scale – two names for the same thing while the other two are called “Harmonic” and “Melodic”. As their formulas differ from each other, so they do not share the same notes as the associated relative major scale and are harmonically speaking not such a right match as the Natural Minor.

And eventually, the Natural Minor (or Relative Minor) scale of a certain major scale is also known as the “Aeolian Mode”. Modes are a concept that we will discuss later, but for now, you can say confidently that you have correct understanding of Relative Minors, Pure Minors, Natural Minors, and the Aeolian mode.

World art historian’s are very mean

May 10th, 2011

I have been turned down several times by some ignorant gallery owners on both sides of the fence for their lack of interest in African Art. In their words African Art is primitive. The sad thing is that our so-called elites gallery owners do not get it too. In most cases they are worst and very ignorant and naive about African art. How long are we going to allow these false monsters of the past run wild in our present time? I have realized that truth is usually a hard pill to swallow but we must confront our past for a better tomorrow.

They held our minds captive with the television, print media, history books or documentaries of their explorers that were written supposedly for them, but ended up in our nation’s schools bookshelves for mind alteration and economic exploitation. Maybe I am missing something; please tell me the expectation of an educator who thought the grand children of Amina in Nigeria, that River Niger was discovered by Mongo Park. We have been forced to look down on ourselves.

Once again they gave themselves names, cubism, modern art and shoved it down our throat like always. Instead of a letter of appreciation, their great grand children are forced and feed lies of the incident in the name of education. You might be wondering what is this got to do with modern art.

During the era of European avant-garde artists, there were prolific African Artists such as Aina Onabolu and many others whose works were never considered modern. Obviously including them in their modern era will mean making them equal with their counterparts in Europe. You know what that means to black man who was supposed to be picking cottons. European modern art was the biggest scam on African Art. They took the best of our forefathers and kicked us to the trash.

You need see him go off with pride and talked eloquently on modern art at the end he declared that he doesn’t want to be associated with African Art. They knew what they were doing and the effect of these centuries of bad seeds is what we see today in Africa and beyond. It is very common to see African professionals, highly educated but with no knowledge of self and very much whiter than the white, if you know what I mean. I have walked into a financial firm in Atlanta, owned and managed by some Nigerians and the issue of African Art came up, One of the owners was asked what type of art do have hanging on your wall.

5 Steps To Learn a New Song On The Piano

April 24th, 2011

As we start to get to know the piano, the next natural step is to start learning songs, so that we can impress our friends and family with how talented we are and play them a little something they might know.

There are many different approaches to memorizing songs. This is my preferred method:

1) First things first, listen to the song. I mean really listen. What does it make you think of? Does it spark a particular feeling? The point of this is to develop a relationship with the song before you begin learning.

2) Listen to it again, two times. If you can, write down all of the chords as you listen the first time around. The second time around divide the song in to A’s, B’s and Breaks like this: “A B A B C B B(half tone up)” or “A A B A B C B break B B”. Remember to also include C parts, modulations and other important elements. This last bit provides structure and is a very important step. Imagine yourself as an architect. This is your blueprint to base everything else on.

3) Go through all of the chords on the keyboard, playing them very slowly. Notice “hard parts”, figure out the best fingering and make sure you can play the whole thing without two much hesitation. It is best to reach a state of feeling like it’s effortless before moving on.

4) Do step three once more, but this time apply your metronome. This is a crucial step. Start slow and slowly turn up the pace. Make sure you are keeping the beat and continues doing this until it feels like a walk in the park.

5) Play a final rehearsal without the metronome. Try to play it with as much perfection as you can. Keep the tempo by tapping your foot. Put the piano aside and sleep on it. The next day, play through the song once and leave it at that. Don’t fall in to the trap of obsessing over every little detail. Play it only once.

This method takes a little practice. If you do it correctly, with focus and determination, the next time you sit down at your piano the song will flow naturally from you hands and you will be free to enjoy the experience together with your audience.

How The American Rock Band ZZ Top Got Their Fame And Glory

November 9th, 2010

Those who are not interested in blues and rock history should still note that ZZ Top has made a big influence on the industry. The band has published a multitude of books, made a cameo in several videos and movies, and even has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Long before the single “Cheap Sunglasses” would make its debut, the band started out with an album that almost no one knew about. Locals in Texas would be the first to hear “ZZ Top’s First Album” via local shows and tours. It wasn’t long before they would go on tour out of state, but in their early years they stuck close to the bars and music joints near them.

Some have noted that it is funny that Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill both have long beards, yet Frank Beard does not. Even funnier is how the beards got started. The band was on a short break, during which both members decided to grow out their beard with no idea that the other was doing the same thing. Even to this day the beards have continued to grow, while Frank Beard has always kept clean shaved or had a mustache.

Texas couldn’t contain the music might that is ZZ Top for long. The band continued to released several more albums, all of which were moderately successful. ZZ Top continued to ride the wave of success to get global appeal. Although not at their peak, the next few albums would be the driving force that put the three in range of the top. This includes albums such as Tres Hombres and Rio Grande Mud, which were both great albums that are relevant even today. Their biggest success was still yet to come, however.

One of the most popular albums was Eliminator. This is the album in which ZZ Top hit just about every top chart they could have, and not just in the United States. It was an album featured in many video games, movies, and other assorted deals. A large number of singles were also released from the album, which had accompanying music videos that were also highly rated. They became well known for creating a music video that is not just a show of technology, but an entertaining video that the whole family can enjoy.

After the early 1990 era, the band started to fall into a slump as far as their popularity was concerned. The band was still making music on a consistent basis, but it seemed as if their singles and albums weren’t reaching the same marks in popularity. Albums such as “Mescalero” were widely considered a flop.

In Conclusion

No one can deny that ZZ Top is an amazing band that has made impressive music. They have done so with alarming consistency and frequency: making them the highest rated blues and rock band over the past few decades in the United States.

Would You Like To Learn Guitar Without Reading Music?

November 9th, 2010

It is a common belief that you must be able to read music in order to learn how to play an instrument well. However, this is not true and many people who play instruments never learn to sight read. Those who wish to learn how to play the guitar are at a very special advantage because you can learn guitar without reading music, since it has its own numerical system of representing what you are supposed to play.

It is possible to learn to play the guitar by learning to read tablature. Tablature is a form of written music that does not revolve around the use of abstract or complex symbols. It is very easy to learn to read and can make learning the guitar a much faster process.

Tablature consists of numbers that are placed upon lines. Each line represents a string on the guitar, so the topmost string will relate to the bottom line and the bottom string will relate to the top line in tablature. The order is inverted in tablature because it is using the top line, which your eyes will naturally see first, to represent the string which your fingers will meet first.

The numbers you see when reading tablature relate to the frets on the guitar, which makes it very easy to understand. You do not have to worry about reading odd looking symbols or note names. You just need to move your fingers to the correct fret, which is given to you right in the tablature.

When reading tablature, you may see that there are several numbers within a single vertical space. This means that you will be playing all of those notes at the same time. In other words, you will be playing a chord.

There are also chord charts which show you how to form chords with your fingers. These charts display the strings of the guitar and where your fingers should be placed upon each string in order to form a specific chord. Once you memorize these chords, you will be able to play music where the chords are referenced by their names, such as A#, Asus7, or A9.

The Remarkable Musician

October 2nd, 2010

Last night a buddy of mine and I were having dinner in this tavern downtown. We eaten some pretty delicious burgers, and it was time to head out. But all of a sudden, this guy started playing this acoustic guitar. And it was really good music. This guy wasn’t an amateur or anything, he played sweeter than any musician I’d ever heard.

I wanted to know where he learned such amazingly beautiful guitar playing skills. Like when you see a famous painter, and he is painting something really beautiful. This guitar player was just like this, only he used music instead of paint. I finally asked him where he learned his mad skills, and he said he learned from a reclusive guitar master who never slept in the same spot twice in the same night.

So finally after some prodding and pushing, he finally agreed to introduce us to the owner. It was the best acoustic guitar lesson I’d ever experienced. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I think I shall be enjoying guitar music for many years to come.

Immediately after we finished our initial tutorial, he provided us a history of the guitar. The classical guitar was invented by a number of diverse cultures at various times throughout history, therefore no one people can assert the acoustic guitar as their own. But the first man who made it renowned was this American guy about several hundred years before.

Following that it went mainstream, and pretty much everyone was enjoying the traditional acoustic guitar. At celebrations, on road corners, and even in dining places like the one me and my good friend first connected with this wonderful and marvelous acoustic guitar player. I inform you, it was the most amazing encounter I’ve ever had the enjoyment of experiencing.

If you like music, I will tell you the fact. Enjoying the acoustic guitar is far and away the finest and easiest way to convey your inner thoughts, let fly your feelings, and get in touch with that fantastic super conscious mind that is actually in touch with all people. Who knows, you may be the subsequent Jimmy Page.

With an acoustic guitar lesson you’ll learn electric guitar lessons
