May 9th, 2011

To Learn The Guitar,a person has to know its origins. Guitar history determines that this musical instrument was made in the 12th century.

Up to now , it had been known as any musical instrument that had been plucked or even strummed, described as a long fretted neck having a smooth soundboard. All guitars made in the past were created from wood and had no universal style.

During the12th century, the Moorish guitar was brought to existence. It was built with a rounded back, a finger board, several sound holes and frets. It had been also during this time period which the Latin guitar was released.

Such type of guitar was built with a narrow neck and only had a single sound hole and appeared nearly the same to the instrument that we know today. Gradually, the Spanish people made a guitar having a six adjusting guitar strings which has a body exactly like the guitar that we all know today.

To learn the guitar, we should learn and understand not just the roots but additionally the proven information that surround the instrument. By doing this, you’ll be motivated with all the proper information to make the best conclusions.

Next, obtain an acoustic guitar if you’re a beginner. If you think that an electric guitar is very simple to play, it can be a little tougher than the acoustic type. The very first thing to consider in guitar maintenance is the safe-keeping. Depending on your home, it is smarter to keep the guitar in a hard case. It isn’t recommended to buy a guitar stand you probably have youngsters running around the house.

A guitar bag is the cheapest and the most versatile way to store your guitar. However, a guitar case is a little expensive but it will certainly protect your guitar from any damage even when you are traveling. Subsequently, don’t forget to polish the guitar after use, particularly the strings. The thing is, our body has oils which are transferred to the strings when we use them. A guitar has metal parts that could rust if not dried or polished properly. It’s also very possible for the guitar to build up dust and that means you should be thorough when cleaning it.

Clean the fret boards, the back of the neck, the body, and the guitar strings, and you should be good to go. Finally, play your guitar often. If you just store it for a long period of time, it will crack and rot.

Would You Like To Learn Guitar Without Reading Music?

November 9th, 2010

It is a common belief that you must be able to read music in order to learn how to play an instrument well. However, this is not true and many people who play instruments never learn to sight read. Those who wish to learn how to play the guitar are at a very special advantage because you can learn guitar without reading music, since it has its own numerical system of representing what you are supposed to play.

It is possible to learn to play the guitar by learning to read tablature. Tablature is a form of written music that does not revolve around the use of abstract or complex symbols. It is very easy to learn to read and can make learning the guitar a much faster process.

Tablature consists of numbers that are placed upon lines. Each line represents a string on the guitar, so the topmost string will relate to the bottom line and the bottom string will relate to the top line in tablature. The order is inverted in tablature because it is using the top line, which your eyes will naturally see first, to represent the string which your fingers will meet first.

The numbers you see when reading tablature relate to the frets on the guitar, which makes it very easy to understand. You do not have to worry about reading odd looking symbols or note names. You just need to move your fingers to the correct fret, which is given to you right in the tablature.

When reading tablature, you may see that there are several numbers within a single vertical space. This means that you will be playing all of those notes at the same time. In other words, you will be playing a chord.

There are also chord charts which show you how to form chords with your fingers. These charts display the strings of the guitar and where your fingers should be placed upon each string in order to form a specific chord. Once you memorize these chords, you will be able to play music where the chords are referenced by their names, such as A#, Asus7, or A9.

Things To Consider When Choosing Between Private Tuition And Online Guitar Lessons

November 7th, 2010

You’ve taken your first steps towards learning the guitar but you’re unsure of who you should receive guitar lessons from. Online guitar lessons would be a great place to begin! Many people are not aware of the many benefits internet guitar lessons can offer. Private tuition does offer some advantages over internet guitar lessons but at the end of the day there are just so many more guitar resources easily accessed online at the click of a mouse button.

When you compare the advantages and disadvantages of both private and online guitar lessons you’ll begin to see that the online learning option might help to save you both time and money. The more popular online pre-recorded guitar video lessons allow you to learn at home and they also offer the advantage of being able to replay the lesson over and over and as often as is needed. Some instructors prefer to conduct their one-on-one lessons live via Skype, AIM, or other networking tools.

With the wealth of online guitar resources available today, many beginner guitarists are choosing to learn from the internet as opposed to a private guitar teacher simply because of the reduced fees. A private instructor will generally charge $25 or more for a typical half hour lesson usually requiring a weekly recurring booking. On the other hand, most guitar lesson websites will charge a monthly membership fee and the better value websites only require a one-time payment for unlimited access. If you look hard enough you will also find some websites that offer their lessons entirely for free or request a donation in return for their services. Learning the guitar online has never been easier with the wealth of resources currently available and there is no doubt that online guitar lessons rival the traditional private instructor option, especially when it comes to costs.

Another major advantage to online guitar lessons is the ease of use and the convenience of not having to leave your home. It may be difficult for some students to access a local guitar teacher or school that fits their personal requirements, fortunately this is never a problem when it comes to online lessons. Budding guitarists can easily select from any style or genre of guitar lessons with just a click of the mouse button. In summary there is an amazing amount of variety found online and the best thing about it is you won’t have to pay anywhere near as much as you would with private lessons, all from the comfort of your home.

A big advantage to the Skype style teaching medium is that there are no regional boundaries. Anyone who has access to a high speed internet connection is now able to receive private one-on-one lessons no matter where they live. This essentially has the same advantages as private lessons, the only difference is your teacher is not physically in the same room as you. Video communication allows the teacher to view the students technique and the student to see clearly see exactly what the teacher is demonstrating.

The internet has enabled many computer literate guitarists access to an incredible world of guitar resources. Never before has it been easier to learn how to play the guitar, all from the comfort of your bedroom. If you’re struggling to decide where to begin when it comes to learning guitar just dip your toe into the world of online guitar lessons and see if it’s right for your particular needs.

Cultivate Flow Through Your Guitar With Advanced Guitar Lessons

September 6th, 2010

There is a difference between learning to get through a song and learning to entertain a crowd. When first starting out you will learn the basics of the guitar and how to piece together notes to produce a song. As soon as you are thru the foundation stages it is time to beef up your abilities with advanced guitar lessons.

Something that ought to be learned in order to transport your skills to the next stage is flow. Flow is developed as soon as you understand the music you are playing and can truly play with emotion. This is what separates a average guitarist from somebody that will mesmerize spectators and audiences.

Obviously flow is not something that can be developed immediately. It is going to take several weeks of appropriate practice in order to incorporate it into your songs. You need to begin by understanding the overall idea of the song and add detail as you grow to be increasingly at ease with songs. What you want to do is focus on spots during the song that give you difficulty and then play the whole piece once you have mastered the full song.

What you will be taught with advanced guitar lessons is to rehearse the song in your brain before even touching the strings with your fingers. The objective is to develop a mental clarity to the point where you can picture what is coming next and hear the entire song within your head.

Long difficult passages can definitely present a dilemma for many. Just keep in mind to take it one step at a time and build up. For example you are best off opening with single measures and learning them like the back of your hand. From there you can then work up to 2 measures 4 measures 8 measures and so on.

In order to add flow to your tune you ought to be able to pay attention and hear flow. This entails you being able to understand the context of what is being played. From there you ought to combine notes from the phrase from the time it begins until it ends. After interpreting the phrase and giving it meaning within the context you must then apply that meaning to the interpreted phrase.

When it is all understood and done you will learn with advanced guitar lessons that flow comes down to being able to identify understand and hear what is coming next. You need to be able to concentrate on the present chord and its scale the next chord with its scale and the transition between the two. As soon as you can learn this from your lessons you will truly advance into an outstanding guitarist.

What Is A Caged Method?

July 28th, 2010

The caged method (when it comes to guitar playing) is actually not a method. It’s more of a label so to speak; and is actually associated to the guitar, to make an emphasis on its five open major chords. These are the C, A, G, E, and D chords (forming the word CAGED in this manner).

Now, the Caged label, which is composed of all five major chords (other than the minor chords like E, A, and D minor), are the only open major chords that can be played in an open position. It also makes out several shapes and patterns from the guitar neck (you’ll also have the option of using other shapes from each letter, as you extend your way up to the guitar neck), most of which materializes from the C, A, G, E, and D chords. Besides these useful information, it’s also good to know that the letters compromising CAGED all have different shapes (shape of a pattern, as well as a shape scale) that stand for each of them.

When it comes to the CAGED label, it’ll also work to your advantage (especially when it comes to any key in the guitar) if you knew all the shapes and patterns involved with all five chords. To put these all to your memory will work wonders. You’ll be able to play just about any key if you really familiarize yourself with all the shapes and patterns used under the CAGED label. Not only will you learn a lot of patterns from the guitar, you can also shift these patterns around without having to worry about what key/s you’re actually on.

To give further details on this subject, you can learn a few more things from having the F key as an example. You should know that by using the F key with another chord, you’ll be able to stretch this out into patterns that can actually be used for making guitar leads. Variations for the F key (or for any key) can also be made useful for things like playing a song, using a second guitar with a guitar clamp. With the F key, you’ll also be able to use and play these in five variations (using each of the five major chords). The first variation for it can be combined with an E shape (at the first fret). The second variation is combined with a D shape (at the third fret). The third variation is combined with a C-shaped (at the fifth fret). The fourth variation is combined with an A shape (at the eight fret). Last but not the least, the fifth variation, which is combined with a G shape (at the tenth fret).

The CAGED label is a very complex thing, and also has a lot of sub categories. But then again, this is really just the first overview of the whole. And to also make things clear, this isn’t actually a method or a system. It’s more of just a labeling pattern, and as a means for memorizing things.

This Was By Far The Most Astounding Acoustic Guitar Player I’ve Ever Seen

May 8th, 2010

Have you ever had one of those nights, where you are just sitting around, looking forward to an easy, relaxing night of watching TV, or maybe surfing the Internet, when your plans suddenly turn upside down? That’s what happened to me the other night. My friends just showed up out of nowhere, and told me we were going to the concert of a lifetime.

We were speeding down this windy mountain road in my friends VW Beetle. I didn’t think those things could go that fast. They kept playing these guitar based rock and roll songs on the radio. I guess we were warming up for something. What I had no idea.

Finally we pulled up to what looked like an abandoned furniture store. It was in a kind of industrial area, that wasn’t near any houses. The outside seemed dark, and a little bit spooky, to tell you the truth. When we walked inside I was completely amazed.

The inside was clean, and had several chairs set up that were facing a huge stage up in front. There was an area directly in front of stage with no chairs, so people could get up close to the stage. When we got there, there was still some space, so we pushed our way into the stage.

Then, all of a sudden, this band appeared out of nowhere. They appeared on this stage, that had a small amount of people mingling around the front. My friends and I pushed our way up to the front, and were lucky enough to see the lead guitar player, who was playing this really wicked acoustic guitar. He was the best guitar player I’d ever heard, either live or recorded.

Finally, after a really long jam session, they started giving out copies of their CDs. I guess they just signed this huge recording contract, and this was there way of thanking their loyal fans. It was a night I’ll never forget.

Learn The Acoustic Guitar And Draw Magic From Any Gathering

May 3rd, 2010

If you’ve ever had the incredible pleasure of witnessing an awesome guitar performance, then you know how quickly and easily the guitarist can captivate and enthrall the crowd through seemingly easy effort on his part. It seems as if he was born with a guitar in his hands, and playing awesome grooves and notes come second nature to him.

Many are inspired to learn the acoustic guitar after witnessing such a display of musical talent. Unfortunately, as the told saying goes, the flesh is willing, but the mind is weak. Translated into choosing a musical goal, many of us would like to be able to play a musical instrument, but very few of us actually want to put the effort and time into learning a musical instrument.

This can be probably be based on a misunderstanding of what we want to achieve. If you wish to be an overnight virtuoso, you are likely to run into some trouble. However, if you’re content to slowly learn, and steadily expand your talents, then you’ve got a nice chance. Those that realize a method to relish their lessons, rather than simply expecting the ultimate product are those that really learn the quickest.

So the key is to require a protracted read of things. Expect to go slowly, and not perform like that guy up on stage over night. The best method to try and do this is to only compare yourself to yourself, and only decide on your skills to how they were a couple of days ago.

This where it is vitally important to choose the right guitar course. One where you can repeat lessons as often as necessary, as well as skip ahead as you see fit is essential. This way you’ll easily be able to chart your progress and eventually be the guy up on stage.

One place where more and more people are starting to discover is an excellent place to learn the acoustic guitar is on the Internet. There are several multi-module course that offer a wide variety of learning elements that will have you up and playing in no time at all.

If you’d like a free acoustic guitar lesson, head on over to the guitar course page now.
