Review Of SHINee’s “Lucifer”: The Next Big Thing In K Pop

September 15th, 2010

Recently, SHINee came out with their new song “Lucifer” which has taken the k pop world by storm. The video to the song has one of the most intense k pop dances to date, and is not for the faint of heart. It is not as easy as, say, Super Junior’s “Sorry Sorry,” but it is definitely more impressive.

Some of the most notable parts of the music video:

1. SHINee look a lot more mature this time around. They seem to be less boyish, and are definitely trying to be more manly. Their costumes have changed as well, and they look a lot more serious rather than cute. Rainbow outfits be damned! Unfortunately, in some live performances they do a throw-back to the rainbow outfits, but that’s another story.

2. This is one of the few recent k pop songs that does not rely heavily on auto-tune. Instead, the members are just singing very well, in perfect harmony it seems, and aren’t relying on post-processing. Compare this to 2NE1′s three new songs, and you’ll hear the stark contrast in use of auto-tune in k pop.

3. Watch a live performance of “Lucifer” and you’ll notice something odd: Minho isn’t doing any dancing. In fact, he’s just sitting in a chair during every performance. Now, this isn’t because he’s trying to look cool: he actually injured his leg on set for an episode of Dream Team. So no dancing until he’s fully healed.

Without a doubt, you can’t go an hour in the streets of Korea without hearing SHINee’s “Lucifer” playing at least once. It’s the hottest song in the k pop world, hands down. Head over to YouTube to watch the video yourself. You’ll see it got 5,000,000 views in a heartbeat, and even the practice version of the dance has well over 1,000,000 views as well.

Check out a full video review of “Lucifer” by SHINee, including a how-to dance guide, over at our k pop blog.

Quick Cell Mobile Evaluations

Nokia N90 – With huge success of Nokia 60 series, N90 adds new taste in Nokia’s grooming market. Mainly based on series 60, Nokia N90 works with tri band and WCDMA network. The 173gram N90 is big, heavy duty, reliable cell phone like all other Nokia smart phones. However handles fit in palm with dimensions 112 x 51 x 24 mm. The phone has two screens, and folded. Twisting could be done as well.

Nokia N95 – Since the arrival of N-series, Nokia has rocked the smart phone market alive. With cell phones like N95, one can simply have an all in one mobile solution. We will take a brief look at the phone major capabilities beside the normal phone calls, text messages and cam etc. N95 is for music oriented minds, although it has not been mentioned by Nokia officially, nor you will find N95 TV commercials emphasizing that.

LG CU500 – Today’s cell phone market is loaded with cell phones similar to famous Razor by Motorola. The LG CU500 is one of them, but a matter of fact, LG CU500 easily beats its rivals as far as functionality, reliability and performance is concern. LG CU500, multimedia dream hardware is flip open, Quad band cell phone with dimensions 3.80″ (H) x 1.95″ (W) x 0.76″ (D) and weight of about 3.70 oz. The cell phone comes in different colors such as black, grey and other chrome colors.

Motorola RAZR V3 – With success of V series, Motorola assigned its engineers for another project named razor. It was all about to design and create a cell phone thin and metallic. The cell phone seems to be a PDA at first glance. The main reason behind the name “Razor” was the cell phone’s thickness of only 14mm. Touching the top edge will remind you morning shave. Yes! it looks that much sharp. Making a cell phone with metal alloy body, sleek and slim, and having less weight, was a real difficult task to do. But considering the fact that Motorola Razr V3 weighs not more than 100g, we must appreciate the efforts of V3 designers and engineers.

Nokia N80 – Nokia N80 is one of the first cell phones that were introduced to initiate N series. Based on the 60 Series, the cell phone gained the attention of potential buyers soon enough to ensure the n series market value. Nokia N80, a slider phone and obviously a robust one, since it is run through symbian. The quad band good looking cell phone is available in black charcoal color as well as stainless steal. N80 outer physical dimensions are 3.7 by 1.9 by 1.0 inches. And with weight a little over 4.7 ounces, the cell is very much compact but thick in a tight pants pocket.

Samsung SCH-u740 – Samsung always provide the best for the least. SCH-u740 follows the tradition. Sporty as well as fashioned looking SCH-u740 weighs about 3.6 ounces and just 0.5 inches thick. This flip open cell phone works on tri band and has dual display. External display is 1.1 inch and can show basic operations without flip opening the phone again and again. The main screen is brilliant 2.2 inches with resolution of 176×200 pixels. SCH-u740 comes in silver, black or white colors.

Guns ‘n’ Roses Storms Back To Relevance With ‘Chinese Democracy’

May 26th, 2010

First the bad news: Chinese Democracy is not the heavy metal sonic assault suggested by the early release of the title track. On the other hand, it very well may be the best album of the year.

After a rock band becomes a major success, they’re really in a ‘no win’ position. If they try to break new artistic ground, exploring different sounds or influences, they’ll invariably hear complaints that they were better the way they ‘used to be’. If they keep doing things the same way, a band risks losing any sort of artistic relevance and becoming a ‘nostalgia act’. KISS is a good example–a lot of purists hated it when they took off their makeup and became another 80′s ‘hair metal’ band, but they deserved respect for doing something different and trying to forge a new artistic path. On the other hand, there’s KISS now: Gene Simmons eventually made the calculated, slightly cynical decision that commerce trumped art. Hes now giving fans the best representation of KISS that their nostalgic desires long for”to the extent of dressing a new guitarist and drummer up like Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. Not exactly a high water mark in artistic creativity, but a highly lucrative enterprise that reportedly nets Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley a cool half million bucks per concert.

Axl Rose could have taken the same route with Guns n Roses. With all due respect to Duff McKegan, and the rest of the original band the casual fan thinks of vintage GnR as Axl and Slash anyway, so all he needed to do was make nice with the top hat wearing guitarist and the two of them and whatever supporting players they deemed necessary could have toured forever just like KISS. Pretend that its 1988 all over again, play the old songs in the old way and back up the Brinks Truck every night. To some extent, Slash has chosen this route with his band Velvet Revolver. Play similar blues based hard rock to vintage GnR, bring in former Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland on vocals and to the fans who are looking for a nostalgia fix of old Guns itll suffice. Never mind the fact that everything Velvet Revolver has ever recorded sounds the same, or that the band members are all well in their 40s and a little old to be doing the rock n roll gypsy routine of the late 1980s.

Axl refused to play the nostalgia game. Hes a very talented guy, but he doesnt have much of a knack for self promotion or media spin. While he worked on putting together a new version of the band and recording Chinese Democracy he let a variety of interests”not the least of which were his old bandmates”control the media spin. As a result, people had been brainwashed into thinking that the album was a stinker before it was even finished.

In many ways, its reminiscent of the Use Your Illusion releases in its depth and complexity. Many albums are fairly straightforward and are easy to figure out with a couple of listens”this song rocks, this is the power ballad, this song is filler and so forth. Others evolve and change with repeated listening”different songs become your favorites, you notice new things about ones you thought you knew well and most significantly songs that you glossed over the first time around start to grow on you.

On Chinese Democracy thats definitely the case”the best example being the song Better. Axl claims that he doesnt try to write hit singles and thats probably the case, but in addition to being an impressive tour de force for Robin Finck on guitar it may be the catchiest pop song since The Killers first album.

One of the real triumphs of Chinese Democracy is the difficulty that a listener has in pigeonholing the songs. There’s definitely a lot of the piano based material first heard on the ‘Use Your Illusion’ releases but overall its evident that the band is breaking entirely new musical ground and even they don’t really know where they’ll end up. It’s very unpredictable and can be hard for a long time fan to wrap their head around, but once that happens its a very exciting sound.

Unfortunately, ‘Chinese Democracy’ is occasionally plagued by overproduction”biggest case in point Madagascar which the band has been playing live for the better part of this decade. The album version doesnt quite have the edge or raw emotion that was on display when played live. This really isn’t surprising for an album that has taken so long to make and has gone through a number of producers.

Thats a very small complaint about what is overall an amazing album. Theres nothing nostalgic about ‘Chinese Democracy., just the sound of a great band breaking new ground.

All About Opera Glasses: Are they for You?

April 21st, 2010

Sometimes the cost of Opera glasses can be costly depending on the kind that you get and what it is made out of. Opera glasses can also cost a lot depending on how expensive the materials are that are used for making them. Some opera glasses can cost only thirty dollars, where as others may cost a couple hundred dollars.

Depending on where you are sitting in the opera (or other performance) you may not need opera glasses. This also depends on how great your eye sight is and whether or not you want to rent or buy them. I personally thing that you should not buy any unless you are going to use them often because then they will just be sitting around collecting dust.

In order to see if Opera Glasses are right for you, you should see if you can borrow a pair from a friend. If you friend does not have any then you can always rent a pair from the opera, they usually offer the glasses at a pretty cheap price.

You can purchase opera glasses quite easily at different stores, but particularly on-line. It is a great idea to simply rent some at the opera before you buy them to make sure that you like them. You may not want to buy any glasses if you do not regularly go to the opera then buying opera glasses are probably not for you because then they will just sit around gathering dust.

Opera Glasses can be designed to look as nice as the people that use them, hence the reason why you would pay a higher price. If you are not a regular opera visitor then you probably should not worry about buying opera glasses because you can always rent them once you get to the opera. Or if you have a friend that has a pair then you could probably borrow theirs.

It is usually a personal choice of some people to use opera glasses. Some people like to use the glasses to follow the story that is going on in the opera and some people only find that it is distracting to use opera glasses.

It does not matter what brand name, color or type of Opera Glasses you get as long as you get ones that make you happy and your not paying too high of a price for something that you can get cheaper somewhere else. Try to make sure that you try out Opera Glasses before you buy your own so that you can know if they are for you.

Parts To Check For In Opera Glasses

April 21st, 2010

The use of opera glasses is something that is helpful for any performing arts event. You can use these glasses with ease and can see things clearly through them. They are also items that can look impressive. If you are looking for opera glasses you should be taking a few things into consideration.

First you should check out the general physical construction of your glasses. This construction should be one that is very luxurious in appearance. It is something that will need to fit in with your surroundings at a performing arts venue. A wooden panel is a necessity for the casing for your glasses. Brass that is noticeable and cannot scratch with ease should be used as well.

Magnification is something that is important to see in your opera glasses. In most cases you can magnify items to three times their size. Some of the most powerful glasses work at five times magnification levels. Regardless of where you are sitting you can use these glasses for your benefit. This includes when you are very far out of the stage.

Seeing many things through the lenses will be important too. The diameter of the lenses can vary according to your glasses. Most glasses work with twenty-five millimeter lenses. This is a general size used for getting you to focus on individual items or even multiple things. With this you can easily find things through your glasses.

When you are done using your glasses you will need to be sure that they are stored properly. Some of these glasses are ones that can fold up in the center. Whether the glasses fold up or not you should have a convenient storage item for it to be in. Some glasses can work with pouches while others can work with durable cases. This is so that your glasses will be protected.

The ability to handle your glasses with ease is also important. You can handle them like you would with standard binoculars. You can also use them with a handle for holding the glasses. Opera glasses of this type are known as Lorgnette glasses. Either way you should know that these two methods of handling the glasses are easy to handle.

You should check out opera glasses for being able to see things at a performing arts event. It is easy to see things but you should watch for some factors. You will need to see how you can hold onto these glasses. The vision diameter and the magnification level that is used are important to see too.

A Quick Look At Rocket Piano

March 16th, 2010

Playing the instrument has always been a dream for some. The only problem is the learning part.

One obstacle that you have to go through with is the fact that you need to fit in piano lessons into your busy schedule and every sessions costs $50.

The alternative is to find an online piano course.

Some advantages with availing of an online piano course is that you only have to pay for the one time fee thus making you save a lot more and you get to be the master of your own time because it’s entirely up to you when you want those lessons.

You can start searching for online piano courses and I bet that you will be overwhelmed by the sheer number but I recently found one which is unique.

What makes this course really unique is the fact that it uses different platforms, significantly games, to help users learn. This course was devised by Ruth Searle, a famous pianist from New Zealand.

What you would expect to receive in the course is a set of e-books, audio and video files, and some game software. The benefit with being offered all these media platforms is that you get to choose which one would provide for better learning.

Let’s say, the student learns better by reading books, the e-books contain illustrations and clear instructions to facilitate learning.

But what I’m sure you want to learn more about are the games included in the course. Rocket Piano has a few games included in the package including Jayde Musica Pro.

What this game does is to help students learn how to read piano sheets with single notes. Another game called Chordinator is used to learn how to play chords.

The course is structured into three parts which helps in organizing the lessons that one wants to take part in.

But if you have gone all the way from novice to pro, this does not mean that you stop learning. Rocket Piano also includes advanced lessons for those who are doing exceptionally well.

Hopefully you liked reading this article. To find out how I make money on the internet then visit my review site. Another site I suggest taking a look at is my friends bowtrol site.
