Parties with themes are a fun way to celebrate. Keep in mind that you are picking your theme you should think about who is on the guest list, and make it appropriate for their personalities.

Younger children tend to like theme parties more than the older ones do. Additionally, there are also differences in the preferences for themes between bookworm kids and ones that love sports.

Think of the hobbies that the kids at the party like and that will help you to choose a great theme for your party.

Pirate themes are very popular ones that kids like these days. Just look at the recent movies, books and toys that cover that theme and try and build one around that.

If you are having a pirate based theme, you can have everyone dress up as pirates. One cool idea is to create a treasure chest and load it up with lots of party favors. You can also modify some traditional fun games to reflect the theme of pirates.

Encourage guests to come dressed as their favorite hero, and that way every time the doorbell rings, people will have fun looking at everyone as they arrive for the festivities.

Consider having your food catered based on your theme using labels and signs that describe how the food has super powers.

Develop Your Child’s Creativity Through Musical Instruments

October 30th, 2010

Here’s a great gift idea for children that many people don’t think of: musical instruments. Why not give your child musical instruments to play with? When a child has instruments, they can spend many happy hours entertaining themselves, and be learning at the same time. Sadly, in many cases parents don’t think of musical instruments when they are choosing gifts.

Many professional educators suggest that there are as many as eight different types of intelligence. Some people learn best from seeing things. Others learn best from hearing things. And, for some people, music helps them to learn.

Buying musical instruments for your children can help appeal to their musical intelligence. Kids will explore their new toys, and this will open them up to all sorts of musical possibilities. Therefore, instruments are great vehicles for learning via play.

It’s not rocket science to say that when kids are having fun, they are more enthusiastic and engaged. When your child is having fun with learning, they will be more active and involved with what they are doing. By exposing children to different opportunities for learning, using different forms of intelligence, this is helpful and can encourage children to be more well rounded.

Kids can learn via music and parents can encourage this learning in many ways. There are many different ways to encourage this and there can be very good results. One example would be to use music to help kids learn math.

Strange as this may sound, math and music go together. Young children can learn counting through music. Rhythm and meter also involve measures. Don’t worry about your own musical skills, even a beginner can help teach kids the basics, and even the fundamentals will help them learn.

Kids can also learn valuable social skills through music. When kids are part of a performance, they will have to learn how to take turns. Songs have a beginning and an end, and this makes a great breaking point to signal a change in turn. Kids can be taught to give each other a turn with different instruments also.

When kids are encouraged to learn through play, this is very effective. Remember though, kids should also get to play with their instruments independently. This is an important form of exploring and also a crucial part of learning.

Sansa View 8gb MP3 Player: A Kid’s Must-Have

July 26th, 2010

I love cartoons, and of course, my cute, adorable, and sweet little kids love them, too. Every evening, before going to bed, we watch the latest episodes of “The PowerPuff Girls”, or “Dexter’s Laboratory”. There is some argument on which is better, of course. I like Dexter, while they prefer Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup.

I have tried to share with them my all-time passion for Disney cartoons, but after a few attempts I had to give it up. They fancy watching Cartoon Network more than watching Sleeping Beauty, so they convinced me to watch TV with them, even if I’m still in love with my classic Disney cartoons.

Any time we go on holidays, the long journeys make them whine that they are bored, and they miss their cartoons, so they have asked me to buy them some player on which they could load their favorite episodes. First, I didn’t agree, but they kept on pleading and begging until I promised them I would get them an mp3 player with video capabilities.

I have come across the sansa view 8gb , which seems just perfect. Any child could easily use it, so I bought two, one for each girl, so that they wouldn’t fight on them. I loaded them up with their favorite cartoons, wrapped them, and made a beautiful surprise to my kids. Their happy dance when they opened the boxes and saw their new players was worth seeing!

They were so excited they took their new players with them everywhere. I also showed them how to load cartoons and music on their new players. Now I’m free to watch my Disney cartoons whenever I want, and I even uploaded some “Tom and Jerry” for them to watch. They seem to like them so far!

Why The Smartest Kids Own A Sansa Shaker 1gb MP3 Player?

July 24th, 2010

My kid’s birthday was coming up, and once again I had no idea what to get her. Dolls were out of the question, as she was getting a little old for them, but I didn’t know what else to buy. Her mother was of no use, so I had to go out and look for a suitable present on my own, knowing that if she didn’t like it, it would be my fault, of course.

I started browsing all the shops I could find, from toy stores, to modern electronics stores. I didn’t have a lot of money available, either, so I needed something cheap and fun. I was running out of time when I spotted something that looked interesting enough for her, and wasn’t more expensive than a couple of dolls.

I asked the salesman to explain how to use the sansa shaker 1gb, just to be sure I could explain it to her, and I bought it, hoping she would appreciate the gesture, if not the present. I decided to give it a test, on the way back, just to make sure it works. I liked it so much, I couldn’t resist and went back to buy another one, for me, so I wouldn’t borrow hers all the time.

After making it home in time to catch the birthday party, I wrapped the player nicely and handed it to her. She was very excited and I could see she liked it a lot. I showed her how to use it, and how to upload songs on to it, and she never let go of it after wards. Not even when I asked her if I could borrow it for a while.

I happily showed my wife my player, and she said I was crazy. What does she know? I’ve been using ever since, and I even started taking it to work with me. I always find a couple of minutes to listen to my favorite song.

Protecting Your Children From Harmful Music

July 8th, 2010

Music is everywhere. It’s in the car, on the subway, at restaurants, in theme parks, and now, with the invention of iPods and headphones, people don’t have to leave their music behind for even a second. Almost everywhere in the world there are people listening to music.

Teenagers and kids are especially likely to be found listening to music. Yet, what is it that they are spending all their time listening to? Parents often buy their child an iPod because, “everyone else has one”, but don’t even know what their child is listening to. The world is faced with a generation of naive parents when it comes to the music industry and its affects on their children.

These days, lyrics that talk about lying, cheating, stealing, committing suicide, shooting people and taking their money, and other gruesome topics, are being pounded into thousands of teenager’s and children’s brains on a regular basis. While most will claim that it doesn’t affect them or that they don’t even hear the words, statistics show this is not the case. Music can have great influence on our lives.

If you think about it, music really does affect our lives. If you pop in an upbeat CD, you’ll start to feel more energized. If you put in a gloomy song, you’ll feel sad. The tone of the music affects us and so does the lyrics. Statistics show that words really affect us, especially words that are repeated over and over. Listening to crude concepts or foul language constantly has a negative influence on listeners that can be difficult to erase.

The other problem with the music-obsessed generation is their hearing is slowly going down. Having powerful amps and loud headphones is slowly eroding their hearing. If the volume is not kept in check, these people might be faced with hearing problems later on in life. Parents need to be aware of these things and protect their children. Music certainly isn’t bad, it just needs to be monitored. If you are going to protect your children from music you should protect them in the home as well. Having a home security system is a good way to do this.
