Perfection comes only with practice. This statement is in regards to virtually anything including piano playing. Each session will prove to be more successful than then previous. While practicing the piano each day is viewed as a chore to many, if you are able to enjoy playing the piano then it doesn’t have to be viewed that way. A good way to begin each session is playing your world’s favorite song. You know this song by heart and you absolutely love it. Your fingers will move from one key to the next without hesitation. In the end, it is the best way to strike a chord in your heart, so to speak.
Before each day’s practice session, any distractions need to be removed from the practice room. In most cases, your piano should be within a room that has a door keeping distractions out; however, if this is not the case then you just need to ensure that nothing can keep you from fulfilling your entire practice session.
Once all distractions have been removed, you should perform some warm up exercise with your fingers. Get your fingers flexed and comfortable prior to playing. You can even do stretches with your back, neck, wrists and arms as these are all parts that are utilized when playing the piano.
Practicing the piano every day will ensure that your playing ability continues to improve and you will hone your skill of playing. Playing every day is going to enhance the way you play much more than if you were to only practice playing once or twice per week. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to sit and play the piano for two straight hours -30 minutes a day would suffice. Ultimately, if you don’t have the time to practice every day then playing the piano may not be for you.
During each practice session, you should include all of the basic chords. If you are new to playing the piano then begin with root position chords. Aside from those, C Major, A Major, G Major, E Major, D Major and F Major should be practiced. In addition, you should continue to practice Ab Major, Eb Major, Db Major then practice a chromatic scale as well as the Db Major Pentatonic.
When learning a new song, break it up into several pieces. Generally, you should break up the song into four to eight measures. Master one piece completely prior to moving onto the next piece. Don’t play a new song from start to finish and expect to learn it to its entirety. Breaking it up will help you learn at a slow yet steady pace to ensure that you fully comprehend each note that you are playing.
Practicing the piano every day is important as you will strengthen your playing ability and you will develop as a strong piano player. After a little while, you will realize that you are making your way through each lesson easier in addition to the improved progress that you are making. Had you decided not to partake in every day practice sessions, you wouldn’t be anywhere near that skill level.
In order to fluently play the versatile musical piano, you will need a lot of practice. Once you learn how to play the piano, you will feel successful, rewarding and everything in between. The feeling is one that cannot be described but can only be achieved and felt. It may feel like a chore at first but with each practice session that you successfully complete, you will be a stronger piano player and each session will become that much more victorious.
