Kids may feel frustrated in the beginning. But after some time, their sense of achievement will kick in once they have learned their very first musical piece. The sense of pride they feel can be like nothing else in the world. Since they’re doing it with other children, the experience can be a very fun one too. They get to meet new people and make new friends.

There are kids who prefer to be alone in school, and many parents are worried about this. When they go to an enrichment program like this, their self-confidence is developed too and not just their knack for music. By regularly meeting other children sharing the same passion as theirs, they learn how to interact with others one step at a time.

When you allow your little ones to take guitar lessons during summer break, there are numerous benefits to reap. It’s not at all that hard to search for a teacher or a learning institution which offers such. Musical Instruments Help Kids Develop Their Math Skills

November 17th, 2010

Musical instruments help young children develop their mathematical skills. Children who take music lessons develop a sense of rhythm and coordination. The child needs to use their mind as well as their hands to play the instrument. Their hands also need to do different things at different times. This all exercises the child’s young mind and stimulates concentration.

Some children find math difficult. This can lead to frustration which complicates matters further. Most children however, love music and find it relaxing and enjoyable. The two subjects are strongly related. Pitch and rhythm, the basis of music, can be described by using math concepts.

This is where music helps children with these basic math principles. A child that learns music learns how to count beats. This helps them to understand the concept of whole numbers. Reading music helps them identify shapes. They also learn how to recognize the relationships between the notes. They learn how to compare and measure when they have to change pitch or pace.

The internet if full of evidence taken from studies conducted to show the relationship between music and math. The studies show that music education improves cognitive ability. Children who play an instrument do better on tests than children who do not play, regardless of their socio-economic background.

Music helps children learn and memorize. Our brains function best when information is clustered or chunked together and music is naturally like that. There is a reason that teachers developed songs, like the ABC song, to help children learn faster.

Music is not only beneficial for developing math skills. Children who take music lessons also see a significant improvement in their speech, reading and writing abilities. The first person to notice the connection between math and music was Pythagoras, the well-known philosopher. He showed that math is the defining element in all music.

Does it matter what instrument the child plays? Children who take music lessons, regardless of their choice of instrument, all benefit from the development of vital skills. Music lessons are emotionally rewarding. They also help to develop the child’s self-esteem as well as encourage discipline and self-expression.

The world is blessed with a wide variety of instruments. Sometimes the most difficult part is choosing which instrument to take up. Some parents feel the need to force their child to take up an instrument of their choice. This should be avoided at all costs. Children who are forced into playing will quickly become frustrated and disheartened which usually results in the music lessons being abandoned. Parents should encourage and support the child’s goals and interests.

Ultimately, the child should choose which instrument they want to play. If they have no immediate preference then exposing them to a variety of musical instruments will be of great benefit. This allows them to make an informed choice and ensures that they will be committed to the instrument they finally select.

Cruising The Water Listening To Marine Subwoofers

September 24th, 2010

Tons of boaters are adding marine audio systems. No matter what they do and where they go, they have the option of jamming out to tunes.

If you’ve ever hooked up a stereo for your car, then you’ll notice installing one on your boat is quite similar. You’ll need a receiver, speakers and an amplifier and subwoofer if you want to add bass.

Marine audio doesn’t have to only be popular in the summer time. You can also create a project for yourself during off season. This is why it’s worth investing into. It’s money well spent.

It’s Saturday and you’re headed to the lake with your friends. With a marine audio system, no matter what you do will be that much more exciting. Don’t forget your CD collection.

Even if you took your family on a fishing trip, sometimes a decent amount of time will pass before you catch anything. Having a stereo will make time go by faster.

Once your receiver is installed, you’ll have to find a place for your speakers. If your boat doesn’t have speakers in it already, you will need to cut out openings for your new ones.

With only a marine receiver and some speakers, you should be okay. But you can always add more speakers and components if you want. Like marine subwoofers for example.

Some boats may have a pair of speakers pre-installed. You can unscrew these speakers and easily replace them. This will add a higher acoustic level of sound.

Most receivers would do a good job powering your speakers. If you want to get louder, you can always add an amplifier. This would naturally boost the sound.

You don’t have to add a subwoofer right away. This can be added on later. If you decide to get a subwoofer, you will also need an amplifier.

You should only need one sub to begin with. This should add plenty of bass to your overall system. A 12″ sub will hit hard and hit low.

You will not spend a lot to have a basic cheap marine audio stereo, you’re going to need a receiver and cheap marine audio speakers. With these components, you can now listen to music on your boat

When Do You Have Too Much Stuff?

August 29th, 2010

My older brother, now living in Sacramento, used to be what some might consider a garage sale addict. Every Saturday morning would find him plying the neighborhoods for hidden treasures in the form of others’ cast-offs. He always got ‘a good deal’ and almost everything he acquired found its way to the garage. The garage was FULL.

When he came home one day with a new collection I noticed several leaflet holders among the booty. I wondered what they were for and he mentioned they came at a great price – free. He’d surely find some use for them.

Asked what he had planned for these advertising aids designed to hold brochures he had an answer ready. He was going to use them to advertise his OWN garage sale. He was planning to get rid of some of these things he had accumulated through his garage-sale addiction. It sounded like a good plan.

Well, before too much time had passed he met the love of his life and moved out of his house and into hers. She already had all of the furniture and appliances they needed so I was fortunate in having all that left behind for me to use. I also inherited the garage full of garage sale castoffs, which he guaranteed he would deal with as soon as he could.

True to his word the garage was emptied and again useable within a few months. I was even able to get my car parked in there! That may have been the first time that particular car-parking area was used for its intended purpose… vehicle protection.

My brother was also nice enough to leave some of his clothes behind when he left. All neatly arrayed on sturdy wooden hangers, I was pleased to find we were still the same size (and still have similar taste in apparel). I wondered if he’d mind if I borrowed that leather jacket! The answer was, “No,” he didn’t mind and I was given permission to use anything left behind as though it were my own. That’s a very cool brother.

I’ve moved halfway around the world now, from Sacramento to Cebu, and all that stuff’s been long left behind. He had to come to the house, of course, and remove everything when it was time for me to go. That’s where the two storage lockers come into play. When you’ve got too much stuff to fit into your house, you might have TOO much stuff!

Bob Proctor has been writing articles since 2002 and is an expert on wooden hangers , however he also likes to write about snowball microphone

History Of OUD

February 3rd, 2010

OUD is a musical instrument which is very popular in Arabic country same as the guitar is a part of the western music. It is an instrument which has played a major role in evolution of the guitar. All the cultures across the world have their own musical instrument which has influenced the music of the region for past many centuries.

It was the Arabs that introduced it to Spain when they marched into Iberian Peninsula during 8th century. During this time only it is believed that the instrument gained much popularity although there is a possibility that Greeks and Romans introduced a similar instrument much earlier in the region.

The cultural shift that took place from transferring it from Muslim to Christian region is believed to have happened in Sicily where it was made popular by the musicians but there are no hard facts that support these findings. By the end of the 14th century it gained popularity throughout Italy and many German s

The OUD is unlike guitar and has a back resembling the shape of a half watermelon. The shape makes it structurally very strong enabling the upper portion to be very thin. It is made of hardwood but is not heavy if the wood is good. It has one to three sound holes which can be either oval or circular in shape. These holes are often decorated with wood carving.

Today the instrument is totally different from the old prototypes. Turkish make is different from the Arabic and differ in both playing style and shape. Arabic is much older one and the Turkish is derived from modifying it.

OUD having its root in Iraq has a very popular saying there that the music lies in the countries soul. Many believe that this instrument has lot of healing powers. It helps in keeping the body temper low and clams the heart. After the Islamic militants the music has lost its favour as many players and teachers where exiled for playing it as secular music is considered to be forbidden.

Taking care of the OUD is not very complicated or difficult. The more you play it the strings and the instruments should be cleaned every time with a soft cloth. Replacing the strings in every 6 month or 12 month is necessary. Avoid the instrument from being exposed to high heat, humidity or cold as it will damage it. Keep it in a hard case to protect it from all extreme conditions. Also applying peg compound around the holes will help in fine tuning as it will become smooth.
